Agreement to These Terms

These Terms of Service explain the rules for using Agaru. By creating an account, signing in, or using the app, you agree to these terms.

Agaru is friendly for learners and families, but it is not currently submitted as an app in Apple's Kids Category. If you are a younger learner, use Agaru with permission from a parent or guardian.

Accounts and Sign-In

• You may sign in with supported methods such as email, Google, or Apple where available.
• You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe.
• You should provide accurate account information and keep your email address up to date.
• You may not use another person's account without permission.

Learning Content

Agaru helps you practice Japanese through lessons, quizzes, speaking practice, streaks, achievements, and other study tools. The app is educational support, not a guarantee of fluency, grades, certifications, test results, or exam outcomes.

Japanese explanations, pronunciation feedback, quiz scoring, and learning guidance may contain mistakes. You should use Agaru as one part of your study routine.

Acceptable Use

• Do not harass, threaten, impersonate, or abuse other learners.
• Do not misuse online rooms, invite codes, quizzes, leaderboards, or multiplayer features.
• Do not attempt to break, reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or bypass Agaru systems.
• Do not submit harmful, illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or privacy-invasive content.
• Do not use Agaru to cheat in a school, certification, or exam setting where outside help is not allowed.

Profiles, Activity, and Online Rooms

Some parts of Agaru may show profile details, avatar choices, display names, usernames, progress, or activity depending on your settings and the feature you use. Online room features may show your participation, answers, score, and timing to other people in that room.

You can adjust privacy and activity sharing settings in the app. Be respectful in shared spaces and only invite people you trust to private rooms.

Dachi Sensei and AI Guidance

Dachi Sensei is a study assistant for Japanese learning. It may provide translations, explanations, examples, and coaching, but its answers can be incomplete or incorrect.

Do not rely on AI guidance for professional, legal, medical, immigration, financial, or other high-stakes decisions. Use it as learning support and double-check important answers.

Permissions and Notifications

Some features require device permissions. Speaking practice requires microphone and speech recognition permission. Reminders require notification permission. You can change these permissions in iOS Settings.

Availability and Changes

Agaru may change, pause, remove, or add features over time. Some features require an internet connection or working third-party services, such as authentication and backend sync.

We try to keep the app reliable, but we cannot promise that every feature will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.

Account Deletion and Termination

You can delete your account from Profile settings in the app. Account deletion permanently removes your account and associated progress from the active app database, subject to limited records retained for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or audit purposes.

We may suspend or terminate access if an account violates these terms, creates risk for other learners, or misuses Agaru systems.

Intellectual Property

Agaru, including its name, brand, visual assets, app interface, lesson structure, characters, copy, and software, is owned by Agaru or its licensors. These terms let you use the app for personal learning; they do not transfer ownership of Agaru content or technology to you.

No Paid Subscriptions in Current Terms

These terms cover the current launch version of Agaru. If paid subscriptions, in-app purchases, or Agaru Plus features launch later, we may update these terms to describe purchase, renewal, cancellation, and refund rules.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as Agaru changes. The updated date at the top of the page shows when the terms last changed. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated terms.
